Starting a Synchronicity Practice: A Simple Guide!

Starting a Synchronicity Practice: A Simple Guide

Synchronicity as a guide to individuation. Finding the self. It’s a fun, simple, and very useful tool.

They say the divine/universe only has a few pathways to get to us: Omens, spirits (guardian angles), signs/synchronicity. This makes sense — we’re exploring nebulous areas of our earthly lives. We have to lean into this process in an intelligent, albeit different, manner.

What is Synchronicity Practice?

Synchronicity Practice is a way of exploring the deeper meaning in your life by paying attention to meaningful, yet subtle, events. The psychologist Carl Jung was quite fond of synchronicity.

Did you ever have a moment where a very random, yet meaningful coincidence appeared out of nowhere? A real hf! moment? For example, let’s say you always dreamed of moving to Europe for some studies in medieval architecture. You’ve been fascinated by it for quite some time. That morning as you’re walking to to the coffee shop you’re dreaming up ways you could afford it, how you’d pull it off, etc. Low and behold, at the coffee shop you sit down next to someone and after a few pleasantries, they get to tell you they lived in Europe and their ex-partner ran the medieval architecture program at some small quaint university somewhere in Europe (a place that sounds idyllic). The conversation really helped and this “stranger” says she’ll connect you with their ex (who they are still on good terms with :) ).

Rando, weird, timely — that’s synchronicity.

Here’s the thing: Yes, it’s a coincidence, but what makes it a special synchronicity is the MEANING applied to it.

Dr. Kieron LeGrice, professor at Pacifica Graduate School, and co-author of Jung on Astrology has a fantastic podcast episode on the deeper nuts and bolts of synchronicity. It’s focus is how it relates to astrology and Jung’s deep connection with astrology, but it’s a great episode and you’ll learn a lot about synchronicity, too.

It helps combat feelings of disconnection and spiritual malnutrition, revealing that everything you need is already present in your life.

Getting Started: Basic Outline

Choose a Time Frame: Focus on recent days or weeks, reflecting on events that hold particular meaning for you. Like the example above, stay open and search for the larger meaning.

Look for Synchronous Events: These are events that feel significant and timely. They could be external occurrences or internal thoughts and feelings. Trust the process.

Trust Your Intuition: Let the information come naturally, without overthinking or trying to control the process.
