The Little Prince: Unveiling Divinity Through the Heart's Eyes, The Huber Method of Astrology

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry was first published in 1943

Few books have captured the hearts and imaginations of readers like "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Its gentle, perhaps subversive, and profound themes, timeless wisdom have made it a beloved classic. One of the most memorable quotes from the book is, "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." This quote resonates deeply with those who seek to understand the essence of human nature. Interestingly, it also finds relevance in the realm of astrology, specifically in the practice of using a birth chart, through the Huber Method, to uncover a person's divinity.

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

"The Little Prince" is a philosophical tale that follows the journey of a young prince as he explores various planets and encounters unique characters. Through these encounters, the prince gains insights into the nature of life, love, and the human condition. The quote mentioned above encapsulates a profound truth that lies at the heart of the story.

The Power of the Heart's Vision:

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly" challenges us to see that true perception goes beyond the surface level of appearances. Our physical eyes can perceive the tangible aspects of the world, but they are limited in their ability to grasp the deeper meaning and essence of things. The heart, on the other hand, possesses a special kind of vision that extends beyond the visible realm.

The Invisible Essence and Huber Astrological Psychosynthesis:

Just as the essential things in life are often invisible to the eye, so too is the divinity within each person. This concept resonates with the practice of astrology. A birth chart is a map of the positions of the celestial bodies at the moment of a person's birth. It provides insight into an individual that we can’t see from the outside.

A birth chart is not merely a tool for predicting events or character traits based on external factors. It delves deeper into the core of a person's being, uncovering the invisible essence that makes them unique. Just as the heart's vision perceives what is essential, an astrologer's interpretation of a birth chart, with the real, lived expression of the client, aims to reveal the divine spark within each individual.

Uncovering Divinity:

Astrology, when approached with an open heart and a willingness to explore, can assist us in understanding our own divinity. By studying the birth chart, one gains insights into their purpose, talents, and spiritual journey. It can reveal hidden patterns and connections, guiding individuals toward self-realization and personal growth.

It’s this essence, or objective sense of the person (if that’s even possible) that we’re after when working with the birth chart. We do shoddy astrology work by re-telling clients about the pieces of themselves they are already familiar with. In fact, the method of speaking directly to “planets in signs” is likely doing more damage as we calcify the parts of a client’s behaviours they are trying to distance themselves from.

“Oh I see you have Venus (love, harmony, etc.) in Virgo (details, ruled by analytical Mercury) — you must hen-peck your husband to death, right?!). So much of our astrology is wrapped in this projected view of the astrologer. They walk around seeing the world through their own birth chart, limited to what they can only see through the eyes.

In that broader lens, astrology is about a more rounded sense of becoming. It’s not about serving up fake platitudes. Clients come to us seeking the truth of themselves, not the projected version they are already fully versed in, and have heard through others, their frenemies, and the limited outside perspectives.

To be fair, we’re not even sure if it’s possible to BE objective about an individual. If we’re able to even capture 4% of their essence, as seen in the chart, then we’d be well-served.

In the gilt-edged Huber method, we see the chart as holistic and through 5 distinct layers. The inner aspect layer of the chart is a central, overall gestalt of the individual. This unconscious and causal motivation is always governing our lives — its essence and lifeblood acting as the engine room to our lives. It works very well.

In Huber astrology we use three main charts: the natal or radix (inherited self), the house chart (which shows a subjective, conditioned view of the individual) and the Nodal, or Moon Node which reflects the shadow, desire nature, or summation of past lives. By using all three together the patterns and motivations of the individual at different levels can be understood quite distinctly.

“Viewed in its entirety the aspect structure is a symbolic representation of our consciousness, formed by the life energies made available to us. That's why it's possible to "see" the inner motivation inherent in a chart.” Bruno Huber

More than pretty art - the aspect pattern in the middle, through using colour in a very precise way, opens us up to the overall inner motivation, gestalt, of the individual.

In an initial consultation we begin with this inner layer, to understand and relate to the pattern(s) on three levels of art, intuition, and the scientific lens. The Hubers were astrologers, psychologists, esotericists, artists. They were highly committed and over 50 years they worked tirelessly testing client charts with real case notes from Roberto Assagioli’s files and support, alongside a massive community of astrologers throughout Germany, Switzerland and globally. Now, Huber is taught in many schools around the world, with a large following, growing following, as many are realizing the depth and relevancy of this method.

The birth chart is a map, not a predetermined destiny. We’re both fated, and have free will, just as the acorn does not become an apple tree (James Hillman’s Soul Code is an excellent read). And just as the Little Prince embarked on a journey of self-discovery, we too must embrace the responsibility to shape our lives and express our divinity in the world. The birth chart offers guidance, but the choices we make and the actions we take ultimately determine our path.

The profound words of "The Little Prince" remind us that true perception goes beyond the visible, and the essence of life lies in what is invisible to the eye. Similarly, a birth chart, when approached with an open heart and professional lens, can assist individuals in discovering their divinity and understanding their unique path and potential in this world. Just as the Little Prince found meaning and purpose through his journey, we too can uncover our true selves by embracing the wisdom within our hearts and the guidance offered by the celestial map of our birth charts.
